Chamara Silva is right-handed batsman from Sri Lanka with plenty of potential and caliber in him. He arrived on the international scene as a 19-year old. However, Silva's inconsistent performances with the bat saw him being dropped from the side. He went back to domestic cricket to regain his form and was reasonably successful on the domestic circuit. Tom Moody spotted him again during his tenure as coach and got him back in to the national side. He is compared to the Sri Lankan legend Arvinda de Silva due to his flamboyant batting style. The right-hander stamped his authority in the Lankan side with a Test century against New Zealand and a series of good performances in the 2007 World Cup. Silva is also a good fielder in the outfield.
