Daniel Vettori is unarguably the best left-arm spinner to play cricket in the contemporary era. At a tender age of18, he became the youngest man to play Test cricket for New Zealand. After Hadlee and Cairns, he is the third Kiwi bowler to take 200 wickets in Test cricket.

Known for his pinpoint accuracy, the Auckland-born cricketer is a tough bowler to get runs off. He turns the ball sharply and has developed his variations very beautifully over the years. The southpaw has a lethal straighter delivery in his armoury and has troubled several batsmen in recent years with this particular variation. Vettori is also a very useful batsman down the order with two Test centuries to his name.

After the 2007 World Cup, he was handed the captaincy of the Test and ODI teams. His luck as the Kiwi skipper has been running back and forth and is yet to prove himself as a worthy captain. Vettori has a tough task ahead of him of leading a talented young bunch of Kiwi players to greater heights in the near future.
