Sri Lankan selectors are confused
Mumbai: Members of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) selection committee are confused as they have no clue who would accompany Kumara Sangakkara’s team to England for the next month’s Twenty20 World Cup in England.
“The term of the present selectors is extended till this month’s end and unless the new selection committee is announced it would not be possible to name the touring selector”, the source said from Colombo.
“It has been a regular practice by the SLC to send at least one selector on every tour and the important event like ICC Twenty World Cup may not be an exception this time either”.
“I have received ten names from the board and the final list will be finalized soon”, the authority (sports minister) Gamini Lokuge said
from Colombo. “We may extend the list from present four selectors to five”, he further added.
Sri Lanka’s present set of selectors is Ashantha D’Mel (Chairman), Ranjith Madhursinghe, Jayantha Senervithane, and Don Anurasiri.
