West Indies players obtain visas to travel to New Zealand

London: The West Indies cricket team, who were stuck in London and Abu Dhabi, for want of relevant travel documents, have now received the necessary travel documents to travel to New Zealand, where they will compete in a three-Test and five-ODI series.

While most of the West Indies team was stuck in Abu Dhabi, where they chose to stay on and practice after their three-nil defeat at the hands of Pakistan, others, who departed from the Caribbean, were stranded at London for want of travel documents.

“The WICB’s cricket operations department explained that travel arrangements had to be reorganised after the team decided to take advantage of the opportunity to stay on in Abu Dhabi for some intensive training,” a release said.
“This necessitated transiting Australia en route to New Zealand – for which visas were required.”
