Australia in India 2007

After being crowned the Champions of the inaugural ICC World Twenty20, the Indians were given a reality check by Australia’s crushing 4-2 series win in the seven-match ODI series. The series was also Dhoni’s first test as captain of a full-fledged ODI series. Coming against the Australians who were looking for the revenge of their loss in the recently concluded ICC World Twenty20, it was a daunting task.

The series started with a wash-out at Bangalore but the Aussies got into the act in the second match itself defeating the home team in the next two matches. The fourth match provided some relief to the Indians as they edged an 8-run win.

But momentum was on the side of the Aussies who cruised comfortably to beat Dhoni’s men in the 5th and 6th ODIs. Thus, sealing the ODI series in the second last match itself. A win for the Indians in the last match came as a surprise but the final score line was disappointing as the Aussies took the series 4 games to 2.
