An injury to Ben Hilfenhaus forced the Australian selectors to dig into their deep pockets of fast-bowling talent and stop Doug Bollinger from going to his honeymoon, so as to include him in the squad to West Indies. He didn't get a game, but was kept in the radar for the Indian tour. He was part of the Australia A squad to India and turned out to be the most successful bowler in the first unofficial Test for his team.

The left-arm fast bowler has played in 45 First-class games for his 137 wickets, which had seven five-wicket hauls to punctuate. The last Pura Cup season for Bollinger brought him 45 wickets at an average of around 15. He was rewarded with a contract from Cricket Australia and from then on, it seems as if everything has happens in frenzied bursts of joy for Bollinger.

Injuries to Lee and Bracken forced 'Douggie' into the side and he straight-away burst with a five-wicket haul in his second ODI. Though he made his Test debut in early 2009, he came into prominence only during the home series against West Indies and Pakistan towards the end of the year. Known for carrying his emotions up his sleeve, he is for sure a show-stopper.
