  • Michael Hussey (54) scored the 10th Test fifty of his career, and his first against India. It must be remembered that he has 2 centuries against India.
     
  • When on 31 Hussey also brought up 500 runs against India in only his 6th Test and 10th inning. He now has 623 runs against India with an average of 69.22. However the fastest to 500 runs against India was Zaheer Abbas who took just 2 Tests and 3 innings to reach 507. More recently Hussey’s team mate Mathew Hayden took just 3 Tests and 5 innings to score 514 runs against India.
     
  • The wicket of Brett Lee was Harbhajan Singh’s 60th wicket against the Australians at home. He now moves ahead of Anil Kumble who also has 59 wkts vs the Aussies at home. However England’s Ian Botham with 79 wickets has taken the most wickets vs the Australians on home soil.

  • When on 53 the partnership of Shane Watson and Brett Lee set new record for the highest 8th wicket partnership at Mohali. The previous best was 53 by Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh vs England in 2005-06.
     
  •  On 42 Shane Watson went past his previous best score in Tests. He had scored 41 in the first Test at Bangalore.
     
  •  The 73 run 8th wicket partnership between Shane Watson & Brett Lee equaled the previous best 8th wkt by Australia on Indian soil. TR Veivers & G McKenzie had also put on 73 in 1964-65 at the Corporation Stadium, Madras.
     
  •  Amit Mishra became the 6th Indian bowler to take 5 wickets or more while bowling in his debut innings. What is interesting is three of the six Hirwani, VV Kumar and A Mishra are leg spinners. The others are
