Statistical Highlights - Nagpur Test , Day 3

  • By scoring his first hundred Simon Katich also recorded his highest score on Indian soil. His previous highest score on Indian soil was also coincidentally at Nagpur (old ground) when he made 99 in 2004-05
  • Simon Katich made his 5th Test hundred. It was also his second vs India. It is interesting to note that four of Katich's five hundreds have come "away" from home. Two in West Indies, one in New Zealand and now one in India. His only home ton was when he scored 125 vs India at Sydney in 2003-04.
  • Michael Hussey was dismissed in the nineties for the second time. He was dismissed on 91 vs England at Adelaide in 2006-07.
  • It was the first time in his career that Michael Hussey (in his 48th innings) was dismissed run out. Until today Hussey (2700 runs) and Richie Benaud (2201 runs) were the only two Australian batsman to have scored more than 2000 runs and not recorded a run out. However with a run out in this innings to Hussey, Benaud now remains the only member of this club for Australia. For the record Kapil Dev has the most runs (5248 runs) with no run outs.
  • With the wicket of Shane Watson, Harbhajan Singh completed his 50th wicket of the calendar year 2008. It is the third time in his career that Harbhajn Singh has taken more than 50 wickets in one calendar year. He had taken 60 wickets in 2001 and the maximum of 63 wickets in the year 2002.
  • The wicket of Michael Clarke was Ishant Sharma's 100th First class wicket. While 36 of them have come in Test matches 64 have been in other FC games
