Sehwag's blitz at Chennai

The English cricketers had no idea what hit them on the fourth day of the first Test match against India at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday. They set the hosts a mammoth target of 387 runs for victory but one man - Virender Sehwag- made a mockery of the task in hand.

Who was this man? Where was he from? And, most importantly how did he do what he did. No superlative would befit what Virender Sehwag did to the English bowlers. He decimated and destroyed them. His-blistering would be an understatement- 83 came of just 68 balls. Being Sehwag, he broke a few records along the way. It was a busy day for statisticians.

  • Virender Sehwag took his 50th catch in Test cricket. He becomes the 12th Indian to do so.
  • Virender Sehwag (64 sixes) now has the most sixes by an Indian in Tests. He went past Kapil Dev who has 61
