  • Harbhajan Singh with (309 wkts) now equals West Indian Lance Gibbs on the list of most wickets. Among the off-spinners only Sri Lanka's Muthiah Muralitharan with 756 wickets has more
  • Graeme Swann became the second bowler in Test history to take 2 wickets of his first over in Test cricket. The other bowler to do so was also an Englishman Richard Johnson dismissed Zimbabwe's Mark Vermeulen and Stuart Carlisle at Cester-le-Street in 2003. Vermulen and Carlisle were dismissed of the third and 4th ball respectively.
  • Sachin Tendulkar (When on 6) became the second Indian batsman to aggregate 2000 runs against England. Sunil Gavaskar with 2483 being the only other Indian to do so.
