Impact Player of 2008?

Dhoni ,Sehwag,Ishant,Gambhir?

Well all players above have made an impact rather made their presence felt in the team. Its difficult to say here whos made the most impact.

Dhoni has thrilled us with his captaincy and decision making ability in pressure situations.

Ishant with his aggressive and pacy bowling spells.

Sehwag with his blistering knocks which no one can ever forget.

Ad dont forget Gambhir, the aggressive yet composed player who can hold the innings together.

Its really difficult so say whos made the most impact.

Whats ur views on this??????

Boss I am telling you when India goes to New Zealand in March only Sehwag will fire. All these guys like GAMBHIR, YUVRAJ AND DHONI will put together score 100 runs in three Tests. They are sub-continent KINGS.

Sehwag should be the Impact Player...without sehwag we hardly maintain a runrate of 3 in tests....but with sehwag it will rise upto 5.....

Regarding Gambhir we are yet to see him outside subcontinent......

It is actually unfair to single out one player and say that he has made impact in 2008. In fact, it is the entire team that has made a great impact on Indian Cricket and has taken the game to the next level. So it is the ELEGANT ELEVEN that has caused the impact.

Having said this I also would like to compliment the contributions made by the Coach Gary Kirsten, Bowling Coach Venkatesh Prasad.

The function of the other support staff also deserve mention.

In all, it has been a great TEAM EFFORT.

It has been TEAM INDIA all through.......!

yes subrambi u are right. however sehwag is a one man army.

if u recall india's last tour of new zealand in 2002 the exact same thing happened. the whole team failed miserably but sehwag fired. even this year he has played some swashbuckling knocks in times of crisis for india. he is the true impact player.

ok i have one more way of explaining that.

1) Australia tour: Earlier this year India lost at MCG AND SCG (Boxing Day Test). But as soon as Sehwag returned to the team (Perth) India became a different team altogether. They started to bat aggressively and went on to win the Test at Perth and came draw the Adelaide Test (once again thanks to Sehwag)

2) vs South Africa: Do i need to say anything?

3) vs Sri Lanka: Score a double century in the only Test that India won in the series.

4) vs Australia (at home): Was consistent and gave great starts all the way thru the series.

5. MOST IMPORTANT POINT - Has made Gambhir feel like a part of the team. Went to the extent of giving him his bat. All of a sudden Gambhir is a new player. You can see that happening. They have bcome the best opening pair in the world today.

I think its actually just the whole team working together to give great results..all have contributed really well..let it be Sehwag..or Gambhir..or Dhoni..or Ishant..nd 1 name every1 is forgetting Zaheer..this year has been great for him..he has taken the responsibility of being a senior bowler..
So all together..its the INDIAN TEAM that has made an impact in the world cricket..
Sehwag and Gambhir have given the team the best of starts..then middle order has performed pretty well..lower the order Dhoni has been perfect..along with Bhajji and Yusuf sometimes..bowlers have done great job..fielding has been better than before(except for the Kotla test)..so credit can't be given just to a single player..and yeah the seniors have been great(except Dravid)..they have helped the younger lot..and have done their homework as well..

That way Sai, each and every player has impacted in one way or the other. Remember the CB series. The team was 'down and out' after the test series. Dhoni infused confidence in the team, Sachin came good with his brilliant knocks in both the finals and the team made it thru.

In the Idea Cup, in Sri Lanka, again the team was beaten and down...thanks to Mendis. Once again Dhoni instilled confidence into the team, got them together, Zaheer and Munaf bowled their heart out and them came thru.

In the Border Gavaskar Trophy, again Dhoni led from the front, Sehwag and Gambhir gave good starts, Sachin, Ganguly and Laxman fired at different points of time, Harbhajan and Zaheer batted well, Zaheer, Ishant and Amit bowled exceeding well and the team got thru.

In the Hero Honda Cup, the entire team performed very well as a unit and got thru.

So my point is it is just not ONE player who has impacted. All the players have impacted at different points of time.

Hence it is the ELEGANT ELEVEN which has come to the forefront and pinpointing one particular player is doing injustice to the others.

Not to forget Gary Kirsten, Venkatesh Prasad..............!

Recently the team india has been performing well. Zaheer, ishant, gambhair, dhoni, sachin and the list goes on. Yet this year 2008 belongs to virender sehwag for his outstanding performance in tests. In 12 tests he has scored more than 1300 runs. He is competing with Grame smith for the highest run scorer in tests. Hence viru is the man of 2008 for the whole cricketing world and not for india. Pl don't compare him with other indian colleagues for this year and beliitlle him. Infact Viru should be cricketer of 2008 by icc but icc calculates funnily from aug 2007 to aug 2008.
