Fidel Edwards had a dream start to his career when he was called up for his international debut after just one match for Barbados. He napped five wickets in his debut Test against Sri Lanka. He also took five wickets in his first overseas Test while six in his first ODI.

He insists he is not an out-an-out pace bowler. With a short build, Edwards can bowl fast and has the ability to reverse swing the ball. Despite regular chances at Test level, he rarely has shown enough control to be a match-winner which is sad considering the warehouse of talent this cricketer is.

His slingy action greatly resembles that of former Australian fast bowling great Jeff Thomson. The right-armer has been vulnerable to back problems, which has hampered his career a bit.
