Profile

Right-arm pacer Lasith Malinga is rated as the fastest bowler in Sri Lanka. He came into the national team with a fearsome reputation behind him. His greatest strength has been his distinctive and explosive round-arm action which generates serious pace which batsman finds hard to pick. Other than bowling fast, the right-armer has a lethal slow delivery and deadly yorkers in his arsenal. He has been found erratic on many times and has the tendency to concede too many extras. Malinga is equally effective with the old and the new ball which makes him a greater asset to the team. On his day, he can rattle the best of the batting line-ups. Probably one of the most memorable of his career will be his four in four against South Africa - the first time a bowler had taken four wickets off successive deliveries in international cricket. With his wicket-taking ability, he will be a force to reckon with.
