After Abdul Qadir and Mushtaq Ahmed, Danish Kaneria has been the most successful leg-spinner in Pakistan cricket. He is only the second Hindu to play for the country.
Apart from his leg-spinners, he possesses a vicious googly and a deadly flipper in his armoury. His stock ball drifts into the batsman and his approach reminds one of Abdul Qadir.
With over 200 wickets in Test cricket, Kaneria is a regular fixture in the Pakistan team in the longer version of the game. He is yet to prove his worth in the ODI team, but was part of Pakistan’s disastrous 2007 World Cup campaign. The leg-spinner is a difficult bowler to play on dusty subcontinent tracks, but Kaneria is yet to make an impact on tours abroad.
