Profile

Scott Styris has been an integral part of the New Zealand team for several years now. The Australian-born Kiwi started as a talented all-rounder who holds the potential to turn the game on its head. He impressed many former players on his debut tour of India and a consistent run in the one-day games witnessed Styris making a place for himself in the Test team too. The right-hander made an impact in his debut Test scoring a splendid ton against West Indies. Since then, it was no looking back for this Kiwi all-rounder.

He plays attacking cricket but also has the ability to play long innings with his stereotype batting technique. He is a good medium pace bowler who has the ability to pick wickets at crucial intervals. The 2007 World Cup in the Caribbean witnessed Styris at his best as he was among the top run-getters in the tournament. One can always bank on Styris to deliver the goods whenever it is required.

In 2008, the 32-year old surprised one and all when he announced retirement from Test cricket in order to prolong his one-day career. In the current Kiwi team, Styris holds the responsibility of being the backbone of the batting line-up.
