Profile
Jeetan Patel is a smart off-spinner who is very effective in the death overs. He has been earmarked as a promising player from his early days. Since his debut, Patel has played second fiddle to Daniel Vettori, but has earned a reputation of a competent bowler in ODI cricket. His shrewd slow off-spinners are hard to hit, and batsmen tend to throw away their wickets with frustration. Jeetan Patel is yet to prove his worth in Test matches but current skipper Daniel Vettori has plenty of faith in the off-spinner. Patel's great fielding skills are also a plus point to his cricketing skills. He has a traditional mode of action and his aggressive instincts help him in scalping wickets regularly.
The Black Caps are fortunate to have two bright spinning talents like Vettori and Patel in the team. With the duo bowling in tandem, batsmen around the world may well find themselves in the web spun by the two tweakers.
