Profile

Luke Wright is a bowling all-rounder who is a product of the England U-19 system. His idols are Jacques Kallis and compatriot Andrew Flintoff. Highly rated at the junior level, the youngster is a bright future prospect for England.

Predominantly a limited-over player, Luke Wright made his international debut in an ODI against India in 2007 where he received a standing ovation from the Oval crowd for his brisk 50 runs off 39 balls. The all-rounder was subsequently named in his country’s WT20 squad.

The youngster likes to play attacking shots and score freely. He is massive hitter of the cricket ball and has the strength and capability to send the ball a long distance. Wright is a useful seamer and a valuable prospect in the one-day games. His recent stint as an opener for England has been decent.

England are blessed with plenty of quality all-rounders in the present era and Wright is rightly one of them. It will be interesting to see whether the youngster can display the same potential in the Test matches too.
