Profile
A prospect for Australia's bowling line-up, Peter Siddle has what it takes to break into the first team. In the first unofficial Test against India A, he bowled after the lead fast bowling pair of Doug Bollinger and Ashley Noffke, and bowled 15 overs for 1 wicket. Even though his strike-rate wasn't great, it was his control that made people sit up and accept him as a true challenger. The trio of Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson and Stuart Clark are no more sure starters as Siddle can whang the ball at speeds up to about 150kph. Unlike in the spin department, the pace-bowling selections have not been as talked about since the newer faces have a strong core team to fall back on. Unfortunately, Siddle had been riddled with a shoulder problem for some time. Nicknamed "Vicious", the fast bowler proved on the Aussies' tour of South Africa that he enjoys winding up the opposition and revels in being a target for the home supporters.
