Following the likes of Gavin Robertson, Collin Miller and Nathan Hauritz, Jason Krejza is this season's second-spinner for Australia on their tour to India. Apart from Miller, who claimed more fame for his hair style and also
his threat that he'd one day bowl left-handed in a Test, none of the others quite made it in international cricket. Hauritz of course must have been the most disappointing of the lot since he was pushed in so early into Test cricket.

It appears Australia have had to fall back on fill-in options for their spin department like India did earlier with their faster bowlers. The alarming aspect though is that there was never an obvious choice for either of the spin-bowling positions once Warne, MacGill and Hogg retired. An off-spinner bowling for Tasmania, Krejza has an unflattering average of 45.46 in First-class cricket. In 23 matches, he has 43 wickets. Compare this with the First-class records of some of India's domestic spinners who aren't even in the frame for selection: Amit Mishra has 289 wickets at 25.21 a piece, Ramesh Powar has 311 wickets at 28.28 and even the young Pragyan Ojha has
121 wickets at 26.76.

It looks unlikely that Krejza will get a game and he will have to do something extraordinary if he doesn't want go the way of other second-choice spinners on India tours.
