India crush Pakistan by 182 runs
India crushed rivals Pakistan by a whopping 182 runs as Rumeli Dhar and Asha Rawat contributed to set up a formidable target of 275 runs at Welangedera Stadium in Kurungela on May 5.
This was India’s third successive win in the tournament.
India lost their first two wickets of the openers in the first ten overs. Soon after, Asha Rawat and Priyanka Roy stabled the innings with their 50-run partnership. Rawat scored 72 runs off 90 balls further strengthening the innings but was run out in the 35th over when India was at 164.
Dhar put up a brilliant display as she scored her career-best 92 runs which included seven boundaries and two sixes. She looked poised all through the innings and was unbeaten as she faced 94 balls. She was assisted by Amita Sharma’s short stint on the crease.
Pakistan’s bowling attack was not exactly fruitful even though Asmania Iqbal and Sana Mir took two wickets each.
The Pakistani batswomen struggled to find their feet all through their innings as the top run-getter for the team Sajjida Shah scored only 16. Indian bowlers bundled them up in 93 runs.
Indian Gouher Sultana clinched three wickets conceding only nine runs. Her debut performance won her the player of the match award. Neetu David and Sharma claimed two wickets each.
Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bat.
