Injuries continue to torment England camp on their tour to South Africa. Graeme Swann, who had suffered a side strain, has been ruled out of the first two ODIs.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has called Kent’s James Tredwell as Swann’s replacement, as the off-spinner failed to recover from the injury. Tredwell is yet to play for England though he was called to join the England One-day squad for the New Zealand tour last year.

In the opening ODI, which begins in Johannesburg on Friday, England may well have to go without three of their frontline speedsters, Stuart Broad, James Anderson and Graham Onions.

Earlier, Broad had to sit out both the Twenty20 internationals with a shoulder injury and it may sideline him for the second ODI as well. Stiffness in the back had also ruled out Paul Collingwood for the second Twenty20, but he may recover in time for the opening match.
