Injured Sehwag, Gambhir doubtful; Karthik to join team
Mohali: Now, injuries have come visiting the Indian camp. The Delhi encounter has accounted for Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir. The Indian board called, on Sunday, the wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik to join the team for the Mohali One-dayer.
Sehwag sustained injury when he was hit on the foot by a Peter Siddle yorker in the eighth over. The opener was seen hobbling around and the physio had to be called to attend to the injury.
On other hand, Gambhir was struck on the neck when Ricky Ponting pulled a short pitched delivery from Harbhajan Singh. Gambhir had to sit out the rest of Australia's innings.
"Dinesh Karthik will be joining the Indian team in Mohali," said N Srinivas, secretary of BCCI, in a statement.
The availability of both Sehwag and Gambhir for the Mohali match is still uncertain. The decision will be taken by the team management on Monday morning.
"Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir sustained injuries during the third match of the Hero Honda Cup 2009, played at Delhi on October 31. A final decision on their availability for the fourth match, to be played at Mohali on November 2 will be taken on the morning of the game," the statement read.
