SLC TV rights decision at 5 PM

Colombo: The Chief Executive of the Sri Lankan cricket board, Duleep Mendis confirmed to cricketnirvana.com that the broadcast rights for the forthcoming five ODIs and one Twenty20 international between India and Sri Lanka will be awarded at 5 PM IST on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka’s cricket governing body had invited bids for television, radio, and other sponsorship rights for the forthcoming series beginning on January 28. Mendis said “There are five channels that have shown active interest and we have to sort out a few things before awarding the broadcast rights,” former Sri Lanka captain Mendis said.

“SLC invites offers for international television, radio, mobile, internet, and sponsorship rights of Sri Lanka Cricket for five one-day international matches and one Twenty20 match to be played in Sri Lanka between the national cricket team of India and Sri Lankan cricket team during the period January/February 2009,” said an SLC statement.

Sri Lanka Cricket is pleased to invite offers from international TV broadcasters for securing television, radio, mobile, internet, and sponsorship rights for the forthcoming Indian Tour of Sri Lanka commencing on January 28 and concluding on February 10, the statement said.
