Munaf Patel to return home due to an injury

Mumbai: India pacer Munaf Patel is on his way back home after being ruled out of the remainder of the tour of Sri Lanka due to a groin injury. The bowler suffered the injury during India’s six-wicket victory in the first ODI of the Wealthsurance Cup against Sri Lanka on January 28.

Munaf, who is now on his way back, is expected to head straight to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore for a medical checkup.

Either Praveen Kumar or Irfan Pathan will fill into the shoes of third seamer with Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma leading the charge for India.

However, the Indian management has not named any replacements so far. India lead the five match ODI series 2-0, with the third match scheduled to be played on Tuesday (January 3).
