BCCI extends sponsorship contract with Sahara
The BCCI, unable to find a new sponsor for the Indian cricket team, has decided to extend the contract with Sahara India Group for six months.
After the board’s Marketing Committee met in Mumbai to discuss the course of action in the presence of president Shashank Manohar, BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said the board has decided to prolong the existing contract on the prevailing terms and conditions for the coming six months.
"Before the expiry of the extension period, a fresh tender would be issued, inviting bids for the same," Srinivasan said.
The BCCI had issued tenders for the various senior and junior Indian teams but couldn’t manage to attract any potential sponsors even after extending the deadline.
Srinivasan also informed that the title and ground rights for the up-coming two Twenty20 internationals between India and Sri Lanka have been presented to the World Sports Group at Rs. 3.15 crores per match.
