New Delhi: An official of the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) has expressed fear that the third Test match, between Australia and india, which is supposed to be played at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi, might be moved in the aftermath of the blast on Saturday.
On Saturday evening, a low intensity blast went off in a busy Delhi locality, claiming the life of at least one person and leaving several others injured.
The Times of India carried an unnamed DDCA official as saying, "We were having trouble organising the kind of security we wanted since the match immediately follows Diwali.
"Now we hope our demands (for security) will be met, but I won't be surprised if the Aussies decide to head somewhere else," he added.
The ministry of home affairs of the Indian government on Sunday sent out a notification to the states and union territories asking them to beef up security in view of the matches that will be played there by the visiting Australian team.
Rajiv Shukla, a BCCI official, said there was no reason for alarm yet. He was quoted as saying, "We are in touch with the Home Ministry and the security provided to the Australian team will be increased. An advisory has been sent to all state governments hosting the Tests. For now, the Delhi Test is on."
