Perth: Former Australian allrounder and Western Australia coach Tom Moody has expressed at the lack of depth and experience in Australia's spin bowling cupboard.

With the retirements of Shane Warne, Stuart MacGill and Brad Hogg, Australia have been left with little experience as far as spinners are concerned. For the current tour of India, they have had to rely on two rookies - Bryce McGain and Jason Krejza, both of who have played little first-class cricket.

He was worried that none of the spinners in the country were actually Test material just yet. He said, "I think any spinner in Australia should be making sure their passport's up to date to be honest with you.

Responding to a query if McGain and Krejza were ready to take on the star-studded Indian batting line-up, Moody said, "It's a big question mark isn't it? None of them have a lot of experience on the board and they've never been anywhere near a Test match or a five-day game.

"It's a big call for the McGains and Krejza who are already over there."

Already struggling without quality spinners, the Australians on Friday suffered a blow when Bryce McGain, who was tipped to be the preferred spinner was ruled out of the tour after he failed to recover from an injury. The other spinner in contention for a place in the Australian touring party, Beau Casson too was struggling with a groin injury, although he seemed to indicate he had recovered from the injury and was ready to answer any SOS call from the selectors.
