Bangalore: Former Australian bowling spearhead Glenn McGrath has said India currently have a golden opportunity to beat the Aussies and win the upcoming four-Test series.

In a column in The Times of India, McGrath wrote, "I feel this is India's best chance to get back the Border-Gavaskar Trophy because, while I still back my team, there are a few youngsters who will be playing in India for the first time."

The former pacer also identified four players in the Australian team, whose performance he thought would have a bearing in Australia's fortunes. He wrote, "The four key players for Australia will be captain Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Matthew Hayden and Brett Lee.

"The latter will have to lead the pace attack, and while he is an experienced campaigner, he is yet to play a single test in India."

He also recognised that India was the only team to have beaten Australia often in the recent past. He wrote, "t's important to stress that while Australia have undisputably been the world champions for a decade now, the one team that has beaten Australia the most is India.

"They lost the last test series, but came back superbly in Perth to pull one back."

"The eventual scoreline read 2-1 in Australia's favour, but it was clear that the pendulum had swung in India's favour after the Sydney Test."

Australia are in India currently to compete in a four-Test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The first Test kicks off in Bangalore on October 9.
