Hyderabad: Australian legspinner Bryce McGain has been ruled out of the first Test at Bangalore after failing to recover from an injury he sustained in the unofficial Test match against India 'A' last month.
McGain, 36, was tipped to be Australia's first choice spinner for the four-Test series.
However, he was ruled out on Wednesday after his first bowling session in the nets with the Australian team. He pulled up sore after his bowling stint in the nets and was ruled out of the first Test.
This means Australia might in all probability offer Jason Krejza his first Test cap. Alternatively, the Australians might go in with an all pace attack, and pick Simon Katich as an extra batsman.
