India shaping into a world-beating team, says Border

Mumbai: Legendary Australian Allan Border is impressed with the Indian cricket team under MS Dhoni, which not only boast of world class batsmen but also bowlers who are potent enough to destroy any mighty batting line-up.

“Earlier the Indian team was known for its batting. But today they have a great bowlers as well. Players should continue playing positive cricket,” Border said on the sidelines of a function.

The former Australian captain said bowlers like Anil Kumble were hard to replace but the way Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Harbhajan Singh were performing things look rosy for the Indian team.

However, Border said reaching the top position was not easy and maintaining the same level even more difficult.

“It is important to get good a set of players in the team. It takes years to reach on top and maintaining the same level is equally important,” said the 1987 World Cup winning captain.

“Once you get those good set of players, one just needs to fine-tune them and try to get the best out of them. Today, the youngsters have lot of confidence and they should be trained well.”

He also said that the Indian team was doing well under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

He admitted that earlier it was Australia that was dominating the game but today the competition level was so high and players, especially the youngsters, around the world were playing well.
