PCB to look into legalities before deciding on next move
Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suffered another jolt, with Mohammad Asif being named as the player who failed the dope tests conducted at the IPL. Sources from within the PCB have said they are expecting a huge shake up in the administrative set up of the organisation, and top ranked officials are likely to be at the receiving end.
With PCB Chairman Dr. Nasim Ashraf and CEO Shafqat Naghmi not in Pakistan, there was no official response from the PCB on news that Asif had failed the dope test.
PCB Director of Operations, Zakir Khan, after having had a brief conversation with the PCB chairman, briefed the media. "We received the IPL letter in the evening, and since it was for Asif, we passed the mail to him. It is up to Asif to have the B sample tested and the PCB is very disappointed over the matter."
When asked if the PCB would support Asif in getting his name cleared, Khan said that the PCB will look into the legalities of the case before taking the next step.
