Bhuvaneshwar Kumar Interview - 'Moment of my life'
Mumbai: Having achieved an outstanding feat of handing Sachin Tendulkar his first duck in domestic cricket, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar has earned a name for himself in the Ranji Trophy circuit.
The 18-year-old took a five-for on day one of the Ranji Trophy final against Mumbai and made sure the 37-time champion feel the heat.
In an exclusive interview with cricketnirvana.com, the UP-lad ran through all his five wickets and spoke about his plans for Day two.
Sachin Tendulkar: It was a dream come true. My childhood dream has been to play with Tendulkar and not against him. I was just trying to bowl as straight as possible. It was full, the seam rushed across before cutting in sharply to kiss the edge, on to the pad before popping and I just shouted Shiva (Shivakant Shukla) catch. It was the moment of my life. Yesterday, I was thinking that it's the first time I am bowling to him and I started dreaming how it would feel if I end up taking his wicket.
Wasim Jaffer: I knew he had scored a triple hundred in the semi-finals and he is in fine form. So I decided to stick to my basics. I bowled straight and let the ball talk. It was actually the movement that grabbed me the wicket.
Abhishek Nayar: It was crucial for us to break that partnership between Nayar and Rohit Sharma. As soon as Kaif bhai took the new ball he asked me to bowl. I knew if I bowl in the right area then I stand a chance. I bowled wicket-to-wicket and it came in a bit and provided us the breakthrough.
Vinayak Samant: Getting both the openers was special. Samant got the start but I was sticking to my plan. The new ball was seaming around and I knew if I bowl straight the batsman will find it hard to negotiate.
Sairaj Bahutule: I will never forget Bahutule's wicket as it gave me a chance to be on a hat-trick. I bowled an in-swinger the next ball but Ajit Agarkar defended it well. I was confident with the new ball in my hand.
